- i'd started doing nano but i might drop because i have a lot of school work and i'm not in the state of mind to write a whole novel right now. i want to, but it deosn't seem feasible to do it in a month. i need to have the time inbewteen to do, you know, school work.
- i changed prophs again, almost completely this time, down to the names and everything. i even wrote myself a false wiki so i'd have the info i need to start it but nano came before i could keep on. i'll get back to that.
- for a story i haven't talked about in a while - i haven't finished dmc because i got stuck on starting an elizabeth chapter but i definitely plan on getting back to that sometime (soon if i drop nano)
- i haven't touched darkvengers in a while but that's alright because that's a background project. might get back to that when i have the time too.
- i started editing batman begins again. i know i just finished the other edit about a month or so ago but this is my detail run through, and from the looks it's probably going to take a bit.
- in non writing news: i've started american horror story? it's very good. i'm also watching agents of shield right now, which is very entertaining.

update 9/17/13
note: i think i'm doing chapter by chapter reviews of the ma of steel novelization on the other blog, so you can check that out if you want
updates!
updates!
- i started dead man's chest. i sat down one night after i had finished potc to finally watch on stranger tides (which was great, btw), and then i decided to watch dead man's chest as well, since the cable was out that day and i had nothing to do. right after i watched it i decided that i had to do it RIGHT THEN and started it, like, the next day or s/t. it's currently on hold because i got blocked, though i might pick it back up sometime soon
- i know i mentioned this on the other blog, but idk if i've ever said it here, but i'm rewriting an avengers fic i started this spring called darkvengers. it's a background project just like prophs is, but i've brought it into the forefront recently (it even has it's own tag on my tumblr) recently in the absence of dmc. it's based on the idea of taking a bunch of the chars in the mcu and taking them to ridiculous extremes, and then seeing how that affects the original story line, plus other things. though, since it's the avengers, you don't actually get to see all of the extremes (there are echoes of them in there though). maybe someday i'll write the iron man and thor and spiderman stories from that universe, but for now there's that.
- i've gone back to editing batman begins, partially because it needs it, and partially because the more i look, the more i realize that i'm gonna have to write the dark knight in full. that also means most of tdkr is on hold until i do and finish that, which won't be for a while because...
- nanowrimo is in a month, and i'm not starting a novelization of a christopher nolan movie the month before, so december, maybe. i'm doing my rewrite of sorcerer's stone for nano this year, and hopefully it will go better than my thg fic (though, if it's like curse of the black pearl, it might be under the length even if i finish it.)
- after reading the first chapter and a half of man of steel, i still think i write better than gary cox, but he's gotten better between the two books, and that's what really counts.
a teeny tiny thing
you know, i've never been a person to have high self-esteem, and i still don't, but i've noticed that i've been a bit into my own writing???
i've been reading stuff by gary cox, the guy who novelized the dark knight rises and man of steel, and just thinking, i write better than you. i've been doing this since last november and i write better than you. i made the same mistakes you did before i took that creative writing class. i write betTER THAN YOU. and like??? is that concieted? it feels like it because it comes from me, but maybe it's not. maybe i really am better than gary cox (at least a little bit). but i don't know for sure.
i think it's because there's a really weird disconnect between me and my writing sometimes? like, i mentioned this on my tumblr once, but i tend to look at my stuff as both the author and the audience, since i write mostly for myself. maybe i'm not better than gary cox, maybe y writing style is just super tailored to my own tastes.
though i'm pretty sure i'm better than gary cox. just saying.
speaking of, i reviewed the first chapter of the tdkr novelization on the other blog, so you can read that if you want. i wrote another blogpost yesterday too but i don't feel like linking to that b/c content. it's easy to find, don't worry.

things in old posts
do you know that i started modern warfare 3? like, for real this time. but i got to level 6? or so and i stopped because i didn't like the way it was making me feel.yeah i just found this and, like, this year or so i figured out that i have sensory processing disorder and that's why i have trouble watching call of duty and why i can't play it. basically the sounds of war could send me into a meltdown and that's not cool (and it almost happened during the time mentioned above). mw3 is particular because i don't actually like it that much so it just makes me anxious and stressy, unlike black ops, which i love so i can survive through it and feel a sense of fulfillment
yooooooo past!frankie what are you talking about. like... i don't even really know how to go about this because sequels being better isn't something that would put me off of a movie so like
- i want to see the dark knight rises again, because i want to watch the dark knight sometime soon and i'm afraid i won't want to see it again after that
I don’t want to be one of those people who deletes their account because they didn't get the house they wanted, so I think I’d be better to delete it before I get sorted, or get in at all. I know it seems dumb, but I like being a ravenclaw.hahahahahahahaha
i had a character that looked like Mark Whalberg, so i made one that looks like Matt Damon and went on with it. it wasn't until now that i noticed how weird that is, but then i noticed that i had the Matt Damon look alike married to a Vera Farmiga look alike.fun story: both of these characters still exist and i totally forgot about this until i found this post. they're both so ingrained into the story that it doesn't even matter anymore. also eric (the matt damon) is married to emma, who looks like jennifer aniston...
73. i sometimes like to think that maybe snape put up a front for all those years...
because maybe after a while he didn't really hate Harry, but he couldn't drop the facade because no one would never believe he’d have a change of heart after all those years.
no no no, like... how??? no
also in general, there are a lot of posts about how the chars in harry potter have been replacements to real friends and how much HP has affected me emotionally and like...
for the first i can't help but keep thinking how sad that is??? like i had no reason to not have friends except myself i just chose not to. the second is a bit harder because yes and no. like, HP has affected me emotionally but not in the way i phrased it before. in all it just made me a little more honest with myself re: my emotions
that's all for today. i've been on the other blog so you can go there if you want to read about feminism and batman or w/e

updates updates updates
- i finished another fic. in the time after i finished tdkr, when i was planning thor, i remembered that i had the script for curse of the black pearl and decided to plan that as well. i got about five chapters in before i started the fic but that was for stitching* reasons. in the end potc has over 26,000 words and i wrote it in three weeks or so, possibly less.
i think it's worth noting that this fic was the most fulfilling writing experience i'e ever had. i wrote almost consistently every day, and no chapter was less that one thousand words (the most was just over four thousand). it was so nice to have time away from batman for a while and also writing something that has nothing to do with superheroes. if it's not too narcissistic, it's also the only fic i've written so far that i think i might be proud of the first draft somewhere down the line, but idk - i thought that about batman begins too, and i've started rewriting parts of that
- like i mentioned above, i started editing batman begins again. i'd actually started before potc but stopped because i need a break. i also started editing prophs and working on the thg fic again.
that's actually about it. i really just wanted to tell you about potc. idk what fic i'm gonna do next, but sorcerer's stone in november!!! really excite
mood: idk

* stitching is when you piece the scenes in a movie script together for chapters in prose. i made the term up on twitter when i was criticizing the man of steel novelization for having flashbacks in the middle of a chapter, so idk if it's a term anyone else uses.

whoa
i haven't written a real post since february so i think it's time for an update
since feburary i've:
- i finished two fics. two full length fics. the last time i was here i was telling you all about how i'd started my batman begins fic two months prior. well, not only did i finish that fic about a month after, i started tdkr the last week in march and finished it in just over a month. right now i'm editing tdkr (which is requiring a LOT of rewrites and inserts) and i'd started a second round of editing on batman begins before i got caught up in tdkr and another project which i'll mention below. i've also written a small selections of tdk stuff because there isn't enough change worth writing a whole story. however, that might change a bit.
i think it's worth mentioning that i wrote tdkr very quickly compared, not just to batman begins but also to the unfinished thg fic. last november, when i did nano, in the thirty day period i managed to write 31,684 words. batman begins took four months and had just over 38,000 words i think. i finished tdkr in a month and it had about 58,000 words. 58,000. that's crazy.
- i started an epic fantasy story
some background on this: in the days leading up to nano (you know, because i decided to nano, like, a week before it started) i did some practice writing to get myself into the groove, since i hadn't written creatively since my sophomore or junior year of high school. along with what would become the first chapter of batman begins, i decided to fill in the blanks of game of thrones and write the scene where the stark kids name the direwolf pups. this. i put the file on my computer a few days after i wrote it and just kind of left it until i started batman begins, which is when i decided to use it as an ongoing background project to keep my mind and hands busy when i'd gotten blocked by batman, and to keep my mind from wandering to other things, because thinking ahead (or in the case of harry potter, behind) can get me overwhelmed.
ultimately, this story has gone through a lot of changes, most of which stem from the big decision to try to remove it from game of thrones as much as i can. this resulted in, among other things:
- i bet you're all (not) wondering about the thg fic.
well, for starters, it's definitely a thg fic again. secondly, i'm tying it in with the epic fantasy story. that's barely been started so
- i've been working on other stuff but it's all short fiction i've got to keep my hands busy since i've hit that wall in prophs. i've started outlining thor, which is a step towards the avengers, and i've almost completely laid out harry potter and the sorcerer's stone for nano this november.
and that's pretty much it! sorry for not being around :(

- me renaming all the characters, locations, and a few other things, in elvish (quenya for the common tongue and sindarin for valyrian)
- removing adults as viewpoint characters (to exemplify that this is no longer game of thrones, the pov chars are all chars who are not, or will stop, playing the game of thrones. adults will come in later.)
- at least three rewrites before i'd even finished the fifth chapter. the biggest one was the decision to have taron not fall from the tower, whereas bran did, and to have aisto run away, whereas jon went to take the black.
- etc...

edit: this was in my drafts so i'm posting it
i was going through my archives and i found this:
like, this kind of thing is such an integral part of my life that it's like nothing to me now. looking at how much i've changed in just the last year is so fascinating to me because i can't believe that's me. crazy.
i was going through my archives and i found this:
2. Inception. i'm starting to think that it's a real thing, as crazy as that sounds.* i've only watched the movie once, and that was March 17th, almost a month ago. i'm still thinking about that movie everyday, almost all the time. i've tweeted about it more than once in the last few days. it's kinda freaking me out. i think about movies a lot, but hardly ever like this. Harry Potter is the only other thing that dwells on in my mind for this long. i'm just gonna assume that this is a sign of a great movie and move on to the next topic, which isokay so this is just really funny to me. in april of last year i couldn't understand the concept of a movie being so good that you can't stop thinking about it. that, in short, means that this was written before i considered myself a part of any fandoms. how crazy is that?

hm
first thing's first, thing's that have happened since last time:
i'm taking creative writing this semester and my professor opened my eyes to something that kind of changed everything w/r/t my au. basically, he said that he sees people who write a lot of fanfiction sometimes get stuck in a rut where they only write fic and never move into writing original fiction. now, so far i've written approx. 1 of the stories in my au but i noticed right away that i was setting myself up for that kind of situation, so i've been busy brainstorming ways to re-appropriate some of my stories.
among those is the thg fic i wrote for nano. like, i'm keeping it, because i like to read it, but the story itself isn't canon in that universe anymore. it's kind of neat, but every time i remember that i'm no longer constrained by the mechanics of the hunger games universe i get overwhelmed.
this fic isn't the only one i'm changing, but it's the most recent drop i've made, and probably the most exciting (something i might elaborate on sometime in the future idk).
so that's all for now. maybe i'll try to post a bit more this year? (no promises)

- i started back at school. nothing interesting there really.
- i haven't touched my batman fic in a week
- i'm giving up my nano story for something different (more on that below)
- i finished blogging twilight and the hunger games started harry pottered, and now i want to do a thing where i read a thing and then blog about it. of course i can't do that because a) i'm not reading anything at the moment and b) if i was would i post consistently/finish said thing? who knows. i could have done a thing where i watched the phase one MCU movies and blogged about those but we just finished the last of them. maybe someday i'll do a thing.

i think i have a few things to talk about on here
first off, somethings you've missed
mood: yay
listening to: a daft punk song with a really long name. it's number 10 on the album Alive 2007. have fun with that.
first off, somethings you've missed
- idk why i never mentioned it but i didn't hit the word limit for nanowrimo. i was at 31,684 at the end of november and right now it's a bit over 35,000. i might have hit it after the fact but i ran into a roadblock when my story went completely off the rails from the original vision, mostly because i killed off peeta. also, his death didn't have the weight it should have. so i ended up having to go into revisions immediately to fix it. protip: to avoid doing this, make an outline, because when i started this i only had a general description of the events of the game i wrote out (world building stuff, idk) and a ranking of who placed where. and of course that might change because nothing is concrete, but it'll still be really helpful.
- i started my batman begins fic the week of christmas (don't worry, i have the script guiding me). honestly i didn't think i'd be doing this one for a long time, but the more i read the script i realized that i could totally do it and that i could fix shaky fight scenes down the line. i've only just passed 10,000 words so it's not very far along, but it's going good.
- i'm rereading blogging twilight, partially because it's good and partially because i'm setting up for what i'm gonna write once i finish thg and batman begins, and twilight is on the list. in the end, i'm probably going to end up having to reread the actual book (or books *shudder*), but i'm holding off as long as i can.
- i got an xbox 360 for christmas!!! i'm not gonna be playing call of duty anytime soon (read: ever, probably). but i do have arkham asylum and i already finished the first year of lego harry potter. i've also started fallout: new vegas, which is going well, i guess (i haven't even left town yet)
- i got tdkr on dvd and i've re-watched it already. it's still very good but it was interesting to watch it with all of the flaws having been pointed out (particularly the pacing and a few plot holes).
- i currently own all of the marvel superhero movies that i care to own at the moment. i've also seen iron man 2, but i've already reviewed that on my tumblr, so i won't talk about it here
- game informer did a list of their top 50 games of 2012 and every accolade for mass effect was accompanied by a picture of the female commander shepard. how awesome is that? especially considering that she was never featured in promo art until mass effect 3. i'm so happy about that.
- black ops 2 placed on the list, and got, like, number 4 on one of the editor's lists too, so that's cool. they got number one villian as well. i'm mostly happy about this because this is the best one in a while (most say since the first modern warfare, i say since the first black ops, but what do i know) and i'm glad people are recognizing the way treyarch is trying to change the franchise ad make it better.
